What is a Primal Sphinx?


Primal Sphinxes are a sub-species of Sphinx Pony which are characterized differently by:

:bulletred: Males are larger then your standard Sphinx male
:bulletred: Females are tall and slim.
:bulletred: Their body's feature a transparent / hollow part (anything below the head and neck) that contains a Sigil.
:bulletred: Each Sphinx's Sigil is unique to them.
:bulletred: They live in clans of the same elements.
:bulletred: Their elements can be: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Dark & Light.
:bulletred: Primal Sphinxes must be born with gems in order to turn them into a horn, Sphinxes who are not born with the gems are not able to grow gems.
:bulletred: Primal Sphinxes Sigil glow, the stronger they are the brighter they glow, cubs are barely more then a whisper of light which helps to camouflage them.
:bulletred: Primal Sphinxes do not have cutiemarks.

Earth - Brown, Green, Dark Red.
Wind - Yellow, Grey, White.
Water - Blue, Green, Purples.
Dark - Dark colours in general.
Light - Pastel colours.


:bulletred: Each Primal Sphinx's Sigil (element) is unique to the sphinx.
:bulletred: For uncommon/super-rare the gem/horn is the same color as the sigil.

What is a Sigil?


The Sigil(s) is the shape of which the element(s) takes form, the shape of the Sigil can vary greatly and is unique between every Primal Sphinx, including identical twins. The Sigil lives within a "Elemental Holder" which is located somewhere on the Sphinxes body, it can vary Sphinx to Sphinx. The "Sigil Holder" works the exact same as a regular body part, flexible and solid, no one is sure what it is made of [some sort of organic matter that also forms their entire body but just see through]. Elements have to be able to co-exist together to work correctly. If a Sphinx is born with two Elements that cannot co-exist it dies eventually due to the elements clashing.

Where do Primal Sphinxes live?


Primal Sphinxes live in colonies in the Equestrian Mountain ranges, there villages can range from being in the foot of the mountains (though rarely as they do not interact a lot with ponies) to the peaks where only the strongest fliers can live. Their villages are always around the respective element, IE: Fire Primal Sphinxes live around volcanoes, where as Water Primal Sphinxes will live around mountain gully's / rivers / ponds. Earth Primal Sphinxes will live around any mountain, Air Primal Sphinxes are almost always found up near the top of mountains alongside Light Primal Sphinxes. Dark Primal Sphinxes are always found in mountain caves. Though every now and then you might see them in ruins of old places, such as the Castle of Two Sisters [Dark Primal Sphinxes] as they are drawn to the energies left behind there. Primal Sphinxes will only move between villages for reasons such as trade, and you will rarely find a different Element living in a un-matching clan (rare but not non-existent). Certain Primal Sphinx clans do not get along at all such as the Fire and Water clans, Dark and Light clans, and can occasionally be conflict between the two.
